Dr hab. Marcin Poprawa is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Contemporary Polish Language at the Institute of Polish Philology (IFP) at the University of Wrocław. His research focuses on critical discourse analysis, pragmalinguistics, stylistics, and textology, with an emphasis on public discourse, political communication, and the role of propaganda in media and ideologies. He explores topics such as politicians’ debates, media representation of war, and the linguistic strategies of persuasion in historical and contemporary contexts. Since 2012, he has been a member of the research team at the University of Wrocław’s Simple Polish Language Workshop, co-authoring a guide for officials on simplifying administrative texts and editing the journal Oblicza Komunikacji.
His work integrates traditional philological studies with modern interdisciplinary approaches, analyzing discourse dynamics in political, media, and historical contexts. He has contributed to studies on the language of propaganda in clandestine press (1939–1945), the rhetoric of public debates, and the interplay between text and visual elements in political communication. His research highlights the societal impact of language in shaping ideologies and public perception.
