Professor Marcia Wilson is the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education at Birmingham City University, leading teaching and learning strategy across Directorates including the Education Development Service, Library and Learning Resources, and Careers and Employability. Previously, she served as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience and Institutional Equity at London Metropolitan University, inaugural Dean of EDI at The Open University, and founding Dean of the Office for Institutional Equity (OIE) at the University of East London (UK's first such department). Her work on EDI frameworks has been adopted nationally and internationally, including guidance for tackling racial harassment in higher education.
Her career spans over a decade in the USA, sport psychology roles with the Football Association and Rugby Football Union (elite women’s teams), and leadership in higher education institutions. She is a national EDI leader recognized in global benchmarks and a sought-after speaker on Advance HE’s Aurora programme, leadership for university executives, and Premier League initiatives. Key focus areas include anti-racist institutional transformation and women’s leadership in education and sports.
