Marcia Anderson

Marcia Anderson, a Cree-Anishinaabe Associate Professor at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, specializes in Indigenous health equity, medical education reform, and healthcare policy. She holds leadership roles including Medical Officer of Health for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, former President of the Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada, and Executive Director of Ongomiizwin-Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing. Her work focuses on systemic racism in healthcare, reconciliation initiatives, and improving Indigenous representation in medical education.

She earned her MD from the University of Manitoba (2002) and completed residency in internal medicine. Key achievements include leading the Rady Faculty's Reconciliation Action Plan post-Truth and Reconciliation Commission (2015), advocating for Indigenous health curricula, and co-authoring the AFMC's Joint Commitment to Action on Indigenous Health (2019). Her research addresses urban Indigenous youth health, primary care access, and health disparities.
