Marcelo Paz

Marcelo Paz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at California State University, East Bay. He teaches Spanish language courses and specializes in Latin American literature and cultural studies, emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches. His research focuses on 20th-century Southern Cone narratives, particularly Argentine literature during the military dictatorship era, alongside postmodernism and postcolonial theory.

Previously, Dr. Paz practiced law in Buenos Aires, taught at UC Berkeley Extension, and held academic roles at Notre Dame de Namur University and the University of Evansville. As Director of the Latin American Studies Program, he organizes cultural events including film screenings and lectures.

His work includes contributions to Latin American Postmodernity, a Reader, and he has presented at academic conferences on topics like post-Boom fiction and Latin American cultural studies. He actively engages with independent film projects in Argentina, Honduras, and Ohio.
