About
Marcelo J.S. de Lemos is a Full Professor at the Department of Energy, Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA), Brazil. He holds a B.Sc. (1977) and M.Sc. (1979) in Mechanical Engineering from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) and a Ph.D. (1983) from Purdue University, USA. He founded and leads the Computational Transport Phenomena Laboratory (LCFT/ITA), advising 10 doctoral and 22 master's students. His affiliations include consultancy for CAPES, CNPq, and FAPESP.
His research centers on turbulent transport phenomena in porous media, spanning heat/mass transfer, combustion, solar energy, and phase-change processes. He developed mathematical frameworks for turbulent flow in permeable structures, with applications in energy systems and environmental engineering. Key areas include double-diffusive convection, thermochemical reactions, and renewable energy optimization.
Recent publications focus on phase-change heat transfer, solar volumetric absorbers, and thermite kinetics, emphasizing computational modeling of multiphysical transport. Trends highlight innovations in porous media simulations and sustainable energy technologies.
