Marcello Pérez Alvarez

Marcello Pérez Alvarez is a tenured Assistant Professor of Development Economics at Groningen University. His research focuses on human capital, migration, and the political economy of aid. He holds a PhD in Economics from Göttingen University and serves as a Research Associate at the Oxford Department of International Development and the Ibero-America Institute for Economic Research at Göttingen University.

He co-founded programs like malengo and puentenica to promote higher education access for low-income, high-achieving students. Consulting projects span health, education, and development policy analysis across multiple countries including Nicaragua, Ethiopia, India, Peru, and Vietnam.
