Marcela Vizcaychipi

Dr. Marcela Vizcaychipi is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Magill Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine, Imperial College London, and a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. She has held academic and clinical roles since 2009, focusing on translational research in perioperative care, anaesthesia, and AI-driven medical decision support tools.

Her research bridges clinical trials and biomedical informatics, particularly in AI applications for mechanical ventilation weaning, delirium detection, and post-surgical cognitive decline. She leads national and international collaborations, including GenoMICC and POISE-3 trials.

Dr. Vizcaychipi received the Researcher of the Year award (2013) and was a finalist for the NHS Digital Pioneer Award (2017). She supervises PhD students and Academic Foundation Doctors across Imperial College’s Faculty of Medicine and Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
