Marcel Zeelenberg is a Full Professor of Behavioral Research in Marketing at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (since 2017) and Professor of Economic Psychology at Tilburg University (since 2009), where he also serves as Academic Director of the Tilburg Institute for Behavioral Economics Research (TIBER). He earned his PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 1996.
His research focuses on Economic Psychology, Behavioral Decision Research, Consumer Behavior, and the Psychology of Emotion and Morality. He explores topics like greed, regret, tax compliance, and emotional drivers of decision-making. Recent work highlights greed’s impact on consumer and financial behavior, moral evaluations, and social dynamics.
