Marcel Meyer

Marcel Meyer is an Assistant Professor at the University of Navarra, affiliated with the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Department of Business. His work bridges classical philosophy with contemporary management practices, focusing on ethical leadership, organizational behavior, and virtue ethics.

Education:

• PhD in Ethics and Leadership (2017) from University of Navarra, with thesis on Positive Organizational Virtuousness and Neo-Aristotelian Virtue in Business and Leadership, supervised by Dr. Alejo José Sison Galsim and Dr. Claus Dierksmeier.

Marcel’s research explores how ethical frameworks, particularly Aristotelian principles, can foster organizational innovation, employee engagement, and sustainable business practices. He has developed tools for measuring practical wisdom in leadership and examined the role of grit in employee thriving.

Recent publications include studies on stakeholder communication in sustainability, practical wisdom in leadership, and the application of virtue ethics to business education. His work has been featured in Accounting in Europe, Review of Managerial Science, and Frontiers in Psychology, accumulating over 400 Google Scholar citations. He guest-edited a 2024 Special Issue on Business Ethics in the Journal of Human Values.

Marcel integrates practical experience from roles as International Relations Manager and in-company trainer at corporations like Volkswagen and Liebherr into his academic work, enriching his understanding of multicultural leadership challenges. He is a member of the research group VEIB Virtue Ethics in Business, advancing discourse on ethical leadership in global contexts.
