About
Professor Marc Pera-Titus holds the position of Professor & Chair of Sustainable Catalytic Chemistry at Cardiff University’s School of Chemistry, where he leads research in green energy technologies and catalytic processes. He is also the Director of International, fostering global collaborations in academia and industry. His work focuses on developing innovative catalytic systems for sustainable chemical synthesis and improving electrolysis technologies for cost-effective green hydrogen production, partnering with Hydrostar Europe. He has authored over 150 publications and holds 19 patents in membranes, catalysis, and eco-design, reflecting his expertise in materials science and renewable energy.
Prof Pera-Titus’ research interests center on interfacial catalysis, Pickering emulsions, nanoparticle engineering, and their applications in energy-intensive industries. He explores microstructured interfaces (plastrons/foams) to enhance reaction efficiency while reducing environmental impact. His recent projects include designing recyclable surface-active particles to mitigate nanobubbles in electrolysers, aiming for over 95% energy conversion efficiency.
- Scientific Awards:
- RAEng Research Chair in Electrolysis Technologies for Green Hydrogen Production (2024)
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry
In grants and supervision, he secures £800k funding from RAEng for a 5-year project targeting hydrogen costs below $3/kg. His mentorship through RAEng connects him with industry experts. Available for postgraduate supervision, he has mentored teams on catalyst development and membrane technologies. His lab focuses on hybrid organosiliceous catalysts and multiphase microreactors, advancing green hydrogen and sustainable chemical manufacturing.
