Marc Macaranas

Marc Macaranas is an Assistant Professor and Head of Dance at Northern Illinois University's School of Theatre and Dance. A professional dance artist and Movement Media Maker since 2006, he has performed internationally with renowned companies including Lucky Plush Productions, DanceWorks Chicago (as a founding member), and RUBBERBANDance Group. His interdisciplinary practice merges physical performance with digital innovation.

Research Focus: Marc's creative scholarship explores the intersection of choreography and technology, with expertise in:

• Modern dance technique and jazz
• Site-specific and screen-based choreography
• Interactive digital installations

• Movement media creation for mobile platforms

Teaching: He regularly conducts national workshops for professional companies, circus schools, and university programs, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to performance.
