Marc Laperrouza

Marc Laperrouza is a Lecturer and Scientist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), working within the College of Humanities, specifically in the School of Social Sciences and Department of General Education. He is also a member of the Teaching Conference (CCE) at EPFL. His office is located at CM 2 271 in the Centre Midi on EPFL's Station 10 campus in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Laperrouza specializes in China and emerging markets, with research focusing on business model innovation, techno-nationalism, shanzhai, and makerspaces. He is particularly passionate about pedagogy, interdisciplinarity, and experiential learning. His research examines innovation in emerging markets from both macro perspectives (global innovation landscape implications) and micro perspectives (business model innovation).

Laperrouza's publications consistently address interdisciplinary learning, course design, and China's economic and technological development. His recent work emphasizes visual and modular approaches to course design, interdisciplinary skill development through field experiences, and China's role in global value chains. His research bridges educational theory with practical applications in emerging market contexts.

Laperrouza has developed several innovative educational initiatives including the China Hardware Innovation Camp (CHIC) launched in 2015, the India Switzerland Social Innovation Camp (INSSINC) in 2019, and aging-friendly societies programs in Switzerland and Korea (KimCheese). He was previously in charge of the 'China' stream for the Minor in 'Science, Technology and Area Studies' (STAS) until 2020 and currently develops learning activities within the FIELD initiative. He has also co-authored 'Course Design' with Jacques Lanarès and Emmanuel Sylvestre.
