About
Marc E. Rothenberg, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and an attending physician at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He directs a translational research program focused on eosinophil biology and allergic inflammation. His clinical subspecialty training in Pediatric Immunology/Allergy and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology was completed at Children’s Hospital Boston and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Education:
- Fellowship – Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Children’s Hospital Boston & Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
- Fellowship – Pediatric Immunology & Allergy, Children’s Hospital Boston
- Residency – Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital Boston
- MD & PhD – Harvard Medical School (seminal studies on eosinophil hematopoiesis)
- BA – Chemistry & Biochemistry, Brandeis University
Research Interests:
Dr. Rothenberg’s laboratory investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying allergic inflammation, with particular emphasis on eosinophil biology and its role in eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGIDs), asthma, and food allergy. The program integrates patient-oriented research, genetically-modified murine models, and cutting-edge ‘omics’ technologies to identify novel therapeutic targets.
Laboratory & Clinical Resources:
He leads the Cincinnati Center for Eosinophilic Disorders (CCED) and heads the Rothenberg Lab, which houses a multidisciplinary team of physician-scientists, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students working at the intersection of immunology, gastroenterology, and pulmonary medicine.
