Marc Carrier

Marc Carrier is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine. He holds cross-appointments in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health. As Vice-Chair of Research in the Department of Medicine and a Senior Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program at The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, his roles emphasize both academic leadership and clinical research. He leads four peer-reviewed clinical trials funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Institutes of Health Research, alongside multiple industry-sponsored trials.

Dr. Carrier’s education includes an MD (2002) and MSc in Clinical Epidemiology (2008) from the University of Ottawa. His research focuses on venous thromboembolic disease in cancer patients, encompassing screening, prevention, management, and cancer-related thrombosis. His work has produced influential systematic reviews and garnered international speaking invitations.

Key affiliations include The Ottawa Hospital and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. His honors include a Tier 2 Research Chair and a New Investigator Award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He also directs the Thrombosis Fellowship Program at the University of Ottawa, mentoring future clinicians in specialized hematology training.
