Dr. Mara R. Revkin is an Associate Professor of Law and Political Science at Duke University, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Political Science. She joined Duke Law in 2022 from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a fellow at the Center on National Security and the Law. Her research focuses on armed conflict, transitional justice, migration, policing, and governance in the Middle East and Africa, with a particular emphasis on the Islamic State's governance structures and post-conflict reconciliation.

Her work employs mixed methods, including surveys, experiments, and archival research, with fieldwork conducted in Egypt, Iraq, Syria, and South Sudan. She advises UN agencies and humanitarian organizations on evidence-based policies to strengthen rule of law and mitigate political violence. Her recent publications explore civilian harm in warfare, dual-use objects in conflict, and the reintegration of former collaborators in post-conflict societies.
Her research has been funded by the U.S. Institute of Peace, National Science Foundation, and Folke Bernadotte Academy. Before academia, she held roles at the Atlantic Council and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and served as a Fulbright Fellow in Oman.
