Dr. Manuel Ramirez is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of History at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), with a dual appointment in Chicana/o Studies. Born and raised in El Paso, he holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from UTEP and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Mississippi (2000). His research focuses on Mexican-American history in El Paso and the criminalization of the U.S.-Mexico border. He has taught courses including U.S. History, Mexican-American History, Borderlands Studies, and Chicano Studies across multiple terms since at least 2018.
