About
Manuel Negri is an Assistant Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela's Department of Galician Philology, within the Faculty of Philology. He holds a PhD in Medieval Studies (2017) and a Master of Science in Modern Philology from the University of Padua (2012). His research focuses on religious Galician-Portuguese poetry, particularly the Cantigas de Santa Maria, and involves creating digital databases on toponyms and anthroponyms in these works. He is a member of the Asociación Hispánica de Literatura Medieval (AHLM) and SEMYR.
His work analyzes sources and contexts of medieval miracles, emphasizing cultural transmission and religious symbolism. Recent studies include investigations into uncertain anthroponyms and toponyms in the Cantigas, Eucharistic miracles, and supernatural narratives. He also explores the influence of international hagiographic traditions on Alfonso X's Iberian Marian collection.
Key contributions include the GloSabio project, a digital database for proper nouns in the Cantigas, and analyses of local and transnational miracle traditions. He currently holds a postdoctoral position funded by the Xunta de Galicia's I2C Mod. B grant.
