Manuel Hepfer is a Research Affiliate at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He holds a DPhil in Cybersecurity and Management Studies, supervised by Professors Thomas C Powell and Thomas B Lawrence. He is a continuing member of Linacre College. Prior to his DPhil, he earned a Master of Science (distinction) in Management, Information Systems, and Digital Innovation from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Management.
His research focuses on organizational resilience in the face of cyberattacks, using comparative methodologies to analyze how firms anticipate and respond to cyber threats. This work aims to elucidate strategic advantages and superior returns derived from resilience. He has taught undergraduate, MBA, and executive programs at Oxford, emphasizing practical applications of cybersecurity and resilience frameworks.
His research has garnered several awards. Beyond academia, Manuel engages actively in thought leadership through articles and interviews addressing cybersecurity governance, board-level responsibilities, and strategic preparedness for cyber incidents.
