About
Manuel Díaz-Ríos is Professor of Neuroscience and Biology and Director of the Neuroscience Program at Bowdoin College. His research investigates neuromodulators (e.g., dopamine, adenosine), environmental stressors (e.g., plastic contaminants, temperature), and neuroprotectants like Rosmarinic Acid in mouse spinal cord models. The lab employs neuroanatomical, physiological, and molecular techniques to assess impacts on central nervous system function, aiming to raise awareness about pollution and climate effects on health.
Díaz-Ríos prioritizes inclusivity, recruiting underrepresented students in science. He teaches courses including Neuropharmacology (BIOL 2510/NEUR 2510). Education includes a Ph.D. from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School and postdoctoral training at Cornell University.
