About
Manuel Alcami Pertejo is a full Professor of Chemical Physics at the Department of Chemistry, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), and an Associated Senior Scientist at IMDEA Nanociencia. He holds a PhD in Quantum Chemistry from UAM (1990) and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK, 1991–1993). His research focuses on theoretical studies of molecules on surfaces, carbon nanostructures (graphene, fullerenes), and molecular fragmentation dynamics.
He leads the national inter-university master's and doctoral programs in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling (www.emtccm.org) and chairs the COST Action CM1204 (XLIC: XUV/X-ray light and fast ions for ultrafast chemistry). His work bridges theoretical chemistry with nanotechnology, emphasizing graphene-based systems and surface interactions.
Recent publications highlight advancements in graphene nanodomes, Kondo effects in nanostructured graphene, and magnetic ordering in organic layers on graphene. He is actively involved in strategic partnerships and institutional initiatives at IMDEA, contributing to the Center for Nanofabrication Laboratories.
