Manolis Vlitakis is Professor of Music Theory at Berlin University of the Arts. A composer and music theorist, his work integrates structural analysis with explorations of sound phenomena, language, literature, and philosophy. His compositions have been performed by ensembles including Ensemble Modern and Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Vlitakis researches sound-form relationships in 20th/21st-century music, with analytical focus on orchestration techniques in works by Lachenmann, Boulez, Ligeti, and Grisey. His doctoral thesis examined sound and orchestration in contemporary composition, published in Sinfonia 11 by Wolke Verlag.
