Manolis Plionis is a Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Physics Department), Director of the National Observatory of Athens, and President of its Board of Directors. He coordinates the National Network for Climate Change (CLIMPACT) and directs the Panhellenic Geophysical and Climate Change Observatory (PANGEA). Additionally, he serves as a Visiting Professor at the European University of Cyprus.

His research spans Observational Cosmology, the Large-Scale Structure of the Universe, Extragalactic Astrophysics, and recent interdisciplinary work on Climate Change and natural disasters. He has organized major international conferences on astrophysics and disaster management workshops.
