Manoj GUPTA is a Provost's Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), affiliated with the College of Design and Engineering. His research focuses on energy-efficient materials processing, lightweight magnesium-based nanocomposites, and biomedical applications of magnesium alloys. He holds visiting professorships at Kobe University (Japan), King Saud University (Saudi Arabia), and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bangalore), where he also served as Brahm Prakash Chair Professor.
Education: PhD from University of California, Irvine; MEng (Gold Medallist) from IISc Bangalore; BEng from VRCE Nagpur (1st Class + Distinction). His work spans microwave processing, disintegrated melt deposition, and cryogenic treatments to enhance material properties. He has authored 7 books and 515+ journal articles, with an h-index of 60.
Research interests include corrosion-resistant composites, bio-compatible magnesium alloys, and sustainable nanomaterials. Recent studies explore Mg-SiO2 nanocomposites, cryogenically treated zinc alloys, and 3D-printed gyroid scaffolds for bone implants.
