About
Manish Issar, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP), Western University of Health Sciences. He joined the university in May 2010. His research focuses on nano-engineering for drug delivery to the eye and central nervous system (CNS), pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling, and bioanalytical assay development.
Education:
- Ph.D., Pharmacokinetics & Drug Metabolism, Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India (2001)
- M.S., Pharmaceutics, Institute of Technology, BHU (1996)
- B.S., Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Technology, BHU (1994)
Research Interests: Dr. Issar develops nano-drug delivery systems to address neurodegenerative and infectious diseases. He explores preclinical pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic outcomes and validates bioanalytical methods for drug metabolism studies. Current focus includes CNS drug delivery and target-specific systems.
Teaching: He teaches core pharmacology courses, including pharmacokinetics (FOM3), antihyperlipidemic therapies (FOM5), antiretroviral therapies (FOM6), and endocrine system pharmacology (FOM7).
Experience:
- Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Florida (2001–2004)
- Senior Research Fellow, CDRI, India (1997–2001)
- Industry roles include Manager positions at Watson Laboratories and Sandoz Inc. (2004–2010)
Publications: His work spans drug delivery systems, corticosteroid receptor selectivity, and inhaled drug metabolism. Key journals include Eur. J. Pharm. Sci. and Drug Metab Dispos.
