Dr. Mandy Bloomfield is an Associate Professor in Modern and Contemporary Literature at the University of Plymouth, affiliated with the School of Society and Culture within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business. She specializes in poetry, critical theory, and literary environmental studies, leading undergraduate modules such as Literatures of Environmental Crisis and World Literature, which explore ecological themes, postcolonial contexts, and global literary interactions. At the postgraduate level, she directs the MA English Literature and MA Environmental Humanities programs, teaching research methods and modules like Ocean Modernity.
Her research interests span ecocriticism, the legacies of modernism, and literatures of the sea, with a focus on how literature engages with environmental crises and cultural shifts. She supervises PhD projects on topics such as ecopoetics, post-apocalyptic fiction, and Nepali women’s poetry.
