Mandy Allen is a Lecturer at the School of Health and Life Sciences. Her roles include supporting student nurses in theory and clinical practice, serving as Admissions Officer at the Dumfries campus, and coordinating Equality and Diversity initiatives for adult nursing students. She has been involved in evaluating infection control education methodologies and student recruitment processes. Her research interests span renal nursing (acute/chronic renal disease, hemodialysis), infection control pedagogy, and pre-registration nursing curriculum design.
She was nominated for The Herald Higher Education Award 2017 as part of a collaborative team. Her recent work includes an ethnographic study on student nurses' competency in recognizing patient deterioration and a leadership role in the Cleanliness Champion Programme. She has contributed to peer-reviewed articles on nursing education and delivered invited talks on infection control innovation in nursing curricula.
