Mamudou Jallow is a Visiting Professor at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education, hosted under the Fulbright African Research Scholar Program for the 2024-2025 academic year. He is affiliated with the Department of Teaching, Learning and Leading and actively contributes to multiple academic units, including the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), Biology Curriculum Committee, Department of Africana Studies, and the Pitt Global Hub. A native of The Gambia, he leads the Biology Department at the University of The Gambia and aims to modernize curriculum development processes through his research project, “Curriculum Development for Meeting Evolving Societal and Individual Learning Needs.”
His research interests span curriculum development, biology education, and African educational systems. At Pitt, he engages with interdisciplinary initiatives, such as teaching Wolof language classes and collaborating with doctoral students and faculty to explore cultural intersections in education. He also participates in sustainability-focused projects through the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation and global studies initiatives via the Global Studies Center and University Center for International Studies.
Dr. Jallow’s Fulbright award underscores his role as a bridge between Gambian and U.S. educational systems, fostering cross-cultural understanding. His work highlights the importance of integrating societal needs into pedagogical frameworks and promoting equitable educational practices.
