Maminur Islam is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Trinity College since 2021. His roles include academic teaching and research. Previously, he worked as an IT Specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Memphis (2020) under Deepak Venugopal. He holds a B.Sc. from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology.

Research Interests: Dr. Islam focuses on neuro-symbolic AI, distributed computing frameworks for Markov Logic Networks, and computer vision applications such as image reconstruction and particle picking. His work bridges symbolic AI with deep learning models, emphasizing scalable inference methods. He collaborates with research groups on denoiser models and neuro-symbolic systems.
Professional Experience: Prior to academia, he worked in the software industry and interned at Adobe Research, where he developed video frame sensitivity analysis tools. His current projects involve distributed computing for MLNs and computer vision denoising techniques.
Labs/Teams: Engaged in collaborative efforts with multiple research groups on computer vision and neuro-symbolic AI applications.
