Makda T. Maru

Dr. Makda T. Maru is an Assistant Professor in the History, Political Science, and Philosophy Department at Delaware State University. She holds a Ph.D. in International Conflict Management from Kennesaw State University (USA), an MA in Gender and Peacebuilding from the University for Peace (Costa Rica), and an LLB from Mekelle University (Ethiopia). Her expertise spans international relations, political science, peace and security, and law, with industry experience in NGOs and government agencies.

Her research focuses on conflict early warning systems, migration patterns, women’s political participation, and China-Africa diplomatic relations. She has co-authored a research monograph on disarmament in Ethiopia (published by RECSA) and an article analyzing the Ethiopia-Eritrea War through diversionary theory. Dr. Maru is a member of the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (ELWA).
