Dr. Majid Sartaj is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa. He earned his B.Sc. in Iran, followed by M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Ottawa (2001). Prior to joining Ottawa, he served as faculty at Isfahan University of Technology and worked as a Project Engineer for a Caribbean landfill project.

His research focuses on sustainable solid waste management, particularly bioreactor landfilling and biogas/NRG production, alongside bioremediation of contaminated soils and adsorption/ion-exchange processes for industrial contaminants. Additional work includes water quality modeling and groundwater protection.
