Majella Clancy is a Lecturer in Fine Art (Painting) at Belfast School of Art, Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, Ulster University. She holds a practice-led PhD examining gendered space through paint and print practice, completed at Ulster University in 2012, following her MFA (2006) and BA (Hons) Fine Art from Limerick Institute of Technology.
Her research interests focus on Painting, Printmaking, Gender Studies, and Collaborative Practices, with particular attention to materiality and gendered space. Clancy's work explores the intersection of artistic practice, feminist theory, and material exploration, often challenging traditional boundaries in contemporary art.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a consistent trajectory examining the relationship between painting practice, gender identity, and materiality. Her work spans theoretical explorations of artistic gesture, material culture, and feminist perspectives on contemporary painting, with increasing focus on collaborative practices and the philosophical dimensions of art-making.
