Majdi Dafallah is a Research Fellow at the Sydney School of Public Health, part of the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health. Previously, he held senior academic roles at Ahfad University for Women in Sudan, including Assistant Professor, Head of the Public Health Unit for Training and Research, and Director of the Nutrition and Health Center for Training and Research. He also served as a national consultant for UNICEF in 2022, co-developing the National Strategy for Risk Communication and Community Engagement in Sudan.
He obtained his Ph.D. from the Care and Public Health Research Institute (CAPHRI) at Maastricht University, Netherlands, and holds a bachelor's and master's in pharmacy and public health from Sudan. He has completed specialized training in vaccinology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Wits University (South Africa), and the University of Geneva.
Majdi's research focuses on social and behavioral drivers of vaccination access and acceptance, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected regions. His work integrates epidemiological methods and qualitative research to address challenges in global immunization programs, emphasizing maternal and child health equity and governance structures in crisis settings.
His recent articles highlight vaccination delivery strategies in Somalia, gender-biased vaccination barriers in Sudan, and conflict impacts on immunization in the Sahel region. These studies reflect his expertise in leveraging interdisciplinary approaches to improve public health outcomes in high-risk environments.
