Maima Koro

Maima Koro is a PhD Candidate and Pacific Research Fellow in the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics at The University of Adelaide. She co-leads the DSTG-funded Regional Perspectives research collaboration, which analyzes Pacific Islands security challenges and Australia's regional security strategies.

Her research focuses on security-development intersections in Pacific communities, emphasizing whole of country processes and grounded theory. Key interests include Pacific security, geopolitics, and development.

With 20+ years of Pacific international development experience across 14 nations (including Bougainville, Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga), she has presented at strategic security forums and taught at the Australian College of Defence as a Visiting Fellow.

In 2008, she received the Samoan high chief title Maualaivao.
