Maike Prause is a graduate research assistant at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (Max Planck Institute for Art History) within the Department Gerhard Wolf. She is completing her MA degree at Ruhr-University Bochum while investigating three work-series of Lynda Benglis with a focus on materiality and temporality.
Her research areas include material aesthetics, material iconology, temporality in art, aesthetics of reception, practical museum and curatorial research, medieval secular architecture of Northern Italy, and Venetian architecture, monuments, and painting. She holds a double bachelor's degree in Art History and Italian Philology from Ruhr-University Bochum, where her thesis examined medieval communal palaces in Veneto. She transitioned from a career as a trained scenic painter and freelance artist/curator to modern and contemporary art research.
