Maia Green is a Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester, currently serving as Head of the Anthropology Discipline Area. She holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (LSE), awarded in 1993, with doctoral research conducted in Ulanga District, Southern Tanzania. Her research focuses on international development, social transformation in East Africa, and the intersection of religion and development. Key areas include civil society organizations, witchcraft practices, poverty, and the anthropology of Christianity.
Her work spans global development policy analysis, Tanzania's socio-economic challenges, and the implications of economic growth agendas.
