Mai Der Vang

Mai Der Vang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at California State University, Fresno, teaching in the MFA Program in Creative Writing. Her notable works include the poetry collections Yellow Rain and Afterland, recognized with prestigious awards such as the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize and American Book Award.

She has co-edited How Do I Begin: A Hmong American Literary Anthology and participated in residencies at Civitella Ranieri and Hedgebrook. Her poetry and essays appear in Poetry, Tin House, New York Times, and other major publications.
