Magnus Andersson is an Associate Professor in Condensed Matter Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, affiliated with the School of Engineering Sciences (SCI) and the Physics of Light and Matter department. He is also involved with the Digital Futures research center, a collaborative initiative between KTH, Stockholm University, and RISE Research Institutes. His roles include teaching and coordinating courses in electromagnetism, solid-state physics, superconductivity, and sustainable development in engineering. Andersson holds a Master's degree in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering from Linköping University and a PhD in Materials Physics from KTH, supervised by Prof. Ö. Rapp. His research focuses on superconductivity and complex materials systems, with a strong emphasis on experimental condensed matter physics. He has served as a pedagogical developer at KTH from 2014-2016, focusing on enhancing teaching practices and faculty development. Notably, he has contributed to CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) educational frameworks through institutional change initiatives and peer-exploration programs. His work spans both technical research and educational innovation, with over 90 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
In teaching, he oversees courses such as Classical Physics (SK1104), Solid State Physics (SK2758), and Superconductivity and other Quantum Liquids (SK2905), emphasizing hands-on learning and sustainable engineering practices.
His recent research and publications address topics like student performance indicators in master’s programs, non-proctored exam solutions, and the structural and transport properties of superconducting materials. Andersson’s work bridges academic excellence and pedagogical innovation, contributing to KTH’s mission of advancing technical education and societal impact.
