Magdalena Janus

Magdalena Janus is an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neuroscience at McMaster University and holds additional affiliations as an Affiliate Associate Professor at the School of Population and Public Health, University of British Columbia. She co-developed the Early Development Instrument (EDI), a population-based measure of children's school readiness, with the late Dr. Dan Offord. Her work spans knowledge creation, mobilization, and translation, influencing early childhood policy nationally and internationally.

Her team works on population monitoring, intervention evaluations, and global child development indicators, including enhancements to the UNICEF Multiple Cluster Indicator Survey (MICS) Child Development Module.

Professional Affiliations: She is affiliated with the Offord Centre for Child Studies and the Early Childhood Interventions (ECI) network. Her consulting roles with the World Bank and UNICEF highlight her expertise in child development measurement and policy frameworks.
