Maeve Olohan is Professor of Translation Studies and Director of the Centre for Translation and Intercultural Studies at the University of Manchester's School of Arts, Languages and Cultures. Her research examines translation practices through sociological lenses, particularly workplace applications of translation technology and scientific translation.
Olohan's research interests span translation studies, corpus linguistics, practice theory, and technology applications in translation. She teaches courses on translation technologies, terminology, and project management while supervising doctoral research in translation and interpreting studies.
Current doctoral students include researchers exploring neural machine translation post-editing, translation style analysis, game localization, and philosophical translation. Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on the intersection of technology and translation practice, with recent work examining post-editing processes and sociological approaches to translation technology.
