Mads Bryde Andersen

Mads Bryde Andersen is a Professor of Private Law at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Law, specializing in contract law, obligations law, IT law, intellectual property, pension law, attorney regulation, and arbitration. His career spans over four decades with continuous academic and professional engagement.

His educational background includes an LLD (dr.jur.) from the University of Copenhagen (1989), Attorney-at-Law qualification (1984), and LLM (can.jur., 1981). He began as a trainee lawyer (1981-1986) before transitioning to academia with positions including Adjunct Professor (1981-1986), Research Fellow (1986-1987), Assistant/Associate Professor (1987-1991), and full Professor since 1991.

Research interests center on foundational and practical aspects of private law systems, with emphasis on contract theory, regulatory frameworks, and evolving digital legal challenges. His work integrates theoretical scholarship with practical applications in commercial transactions and dispute resolution.

His 183 research outputs demonstrate consistent contributions across law journals, monographs, and textbooks including the 5th edition of Aftaleretten (2021-2022) and Advokatretten (2022). Current projects focus on attorney competencies and power dynamics in legal systems.
