Dr. Madison Barshick is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Science at Berry College. She earned her B.S. in Animal Science and Biochemistry from Berry College in 2021 and her Ph.D. in Animal Science from Virginia Tech in 2025.
Her research focuses on Skeletal Muscle Biology, Equine Performance, and Infectious Diseases of the Horse, particularly the pathogenesis of Equine Strangles and Thrush. She investigates performance-limiting diseases and explores nutritional interventions to enhance equine recovery and performance.
- Current projects examine skeletal muscle response to exercise post-infection and bacterial disease mechanisms
- Publications span equine physiology, inflammation, and microbiology education tools
Dr. Barshick teaches Veterinary Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology, with prior experience instructing upper-level Animal Science courses.
