Madeleine Youngs

Madeleine Youngs is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Atmospheric & Oceanic Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research focuses on how ocean dynamics influence climate, with a particular emphasis on the Southern Ocean and its interactions with ice and climate systems.

Research interests include geophysical fluid dynamics, ocean mixing processes, and the role of turbulence in shaping climate patterns. She employs observational data, biogeochemical modeling, and dynamical systems approaches to address these questions.

Dr. Youngs is actively recruiting a PhD student for the 2025-26 academic year. Her work bridges oceanography, atmospheric science, and data science to tackle timely climate-related challenges.
