About
Maarten Paulides is a Full Professor and Chair of the Care & Cure research lab within the Electromagnetics group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). He also serves as Scientific Director of the Center for Care and Cure Technology Eindhoven (C3Te) at the departments of Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics of TU/e, and holds an honorary professorship at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Erasmus MC Cancer Institute in Rotterdam.
His research focuses on the application of bioelectromagnetic approaches in healthcare, with particular emphasis on:
- Hyperthermia for enhancing cancer treatment effectiveness, especially for head and neck tumors
- Bio-electromagnetic simulations and modeling
- Development of microwave techniques and treatment devices
- MR-guided interventions and real-time treatment control
- Assessment of clinical benefits of electromagnetic approaches in oncology
Paulides' recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on developing advanced tools and control systems for hyperthermia treatments, electromagnetic characterization of tissues, and quantum-based medical technologies. His work bridges engineering disciplines with clinical applications, aiming to translate research into patient care.
His scientific contributions have been recognized through:
- Technical committee membership for international congresses on hyperthermic oncology
- Service on the Dutch Health Council and ICNRIP/WHO
- Participation in COST action CA17115 ("MyWave")
- Editorial roles for International Journal of Hyperthermia and Cancers
Paulides actively collaborates with hospitals including Kempenheaghe, Catharina, and Máxima MC, and has co-founded MedTech companies Sensius BV and PMTC to advance the translation of research into clinical practice.
