Maaike Bouwmeester

Maaike Bouwmeester is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University. She holds a PhD in Educational Technology from NYU Steinhardt and has over 20 years of experience in educational technology, product design, and leadership. Previously, she served as Vice President of Product Development at Taskstream, where she led design teams and developed educational software tools for over 400 institutions.

• Master’s and PhD in Educational Technology from NYU Steinhardt

Her research focuses on student-centered learning, bridging theory and practice, and removing barriers for educators. Key interests include collaborative STEM learning, AI-enhanced skill platforms, and the VITAL project-based methodology. She teaches courses like Foundations of Cognitive Science and oversees internship/thesis programs.

As former Program Director, she developed specializations in User Experience Design, Learning Analytics, and Transformative Learning Design. She collaborates with organizations like the League of Young Inventors and leads initiatives in higher education technology.
