MARIA PILAR LOPEZ RODRIGUEZ

Maria Pilar Lopez Rodriguez is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities. She specializes in contemporary history with a focus on agrarian and political history of the rural world during the 19th and 20th centuries. Her research is conducted under the HISTAGRA research group, which explores topics such as the agrarian structure reform in Galicia.

She earned her PhD from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1984 with a thesis titled "Reform of the agrarian structure in Galicia. The municipal issue during the First Republic, the example of Lucense", supervised by Dr. Jesús María Palomares Ibáñez.

Her work centers on historical analysis of rural political dynamics and institutional transformations, particularly in Galicia's municipal contexts during pivotal historical periods.
