M. Rhys Dotson

M. Rhys Dotson is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of History at the University of Texas at Tyler, College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Ph.D. in History from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Dotson specializes in Modern American History with a focus on civil rights movements, particularly the formation of the LGBT civil rights movement in Dallas, Texas. He teaches US survey courses and upper-division classes such as The Long Sixties and The Rise of Conservatism in America. His research combines historical analysis with social and political transformation studies.
