Lynne Wheeler

Lynne Wheeler is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at Wrexham Glyndŵr University, specializing in mental health education and practice. With over two decades of experience, her career spans roles in inpatient mental health units, substance use services, and primary care mental health.

• Qualifications: Mental Health Nurse Training (Bangor University, 1998-2001), Master's in Mindfulness-Based Approaches (Bangor University, 2017-2020)

Research interests focus on:

• Mindfulness and self-compassion practices in mental health
• Autoethnographic exploration of identity in healthcare education
• Advocacy for underrepresented groups (LGBTQ+ and low-socioeconomic backgrounds)

Current teaching includes modules on:

• Promoting Healthy Behaviours and Vulnerability in Society
• Acute and Chronic Care Across the Lifespan in Mental Health
• Holistic Co-Ordination of Complex Care in Mental Health

She actively promotes diversity in healthcare education and works with BN, MSc, and Part-Time programs.
