Dr. Lynne M. Getz is a Professor in the Department of History at Appalachian State University. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Washington, Seattle, and specializes in teaching courses on U.S. History, the American West, Race and Gender, Family History, and Mexican American History. Her research focuses on historical narratives of education, family structures, and cultural intersections in American society.
Research Interests: Her work explores the socio-cultural dynamics of the American West, Mexican American communities, and gender/race relations. She investigates educational history through marginalized perspectives and family chronicles as historical artifacts.

Community Engagement: Dr. Getz co-directs the St. Luke's Community Garden in Boone, which supplies fresh produce to Hospitality House (homeless shelter) and the Hunger Coalition.
