Prof. Dr. Lynn Rother is the Lichtenberg Professor for Provenance Studies and Director of the Provenance Lab at Leuphana University, with a concurrent appointment as Adjunct Curator for Provenance at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. She holds a Master's degree in art history, economics, and law from the University of Leipzig (2008) and a PhD in art history from the Technical University of Berlin (2015).
Her research examines:
- Provenance of cultural objects
- Digital transformation of museums
- Historical economics of art markets
- Computational methods in cultural heritage
Awards include:
- Humanities International Prize (2018)
- Getty Research Fellowship (2014)
- ZADIK Board of Trustees appointment (2021)
She serves on advisory boards for NFDI4Objects, Getty Provenance Index, and the German Lost Art Foundation.
