Lynn Rees

Professor Lynn Rees holds the Bonnie B. and James H. Quigley/Deloitte Foundation Professorship in Accountancy at Utah State University's Eccles School of Business. He earned his Ph.D. from Arizona State University (1993) and a B.A. from Southern Utah University (1989). Previously, he taught at Texas A&M, Washington State University, and the University of Houston. As a former Research Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board, he contributed to standard-setting through empirical research.

His research focuses on the information content and value-relevance of financial reporting, particularly in international contexts. Key areas include investor behavior, media impact on markets, and earnings quality analysis. He has published in top-tier journals like Journal of Accounting Research and Review of Accounting Studies, and his work bridges academic and practitioner audiences through articles in Accounting Horizons.

Professor Rees has presented globally at conferences in Japan, Taiwan, England, Brazil, and more. He served as editor for Accounting Horizons and Journal of International Accounting Research, and remains active in editorial roles across multiple journals. His teaching includes advanced courses like ACCT 6250 (Accounting Research) and ACCT 3110 (Intermediate Financial Accounting).
